Best Zero Drop Chukka and Desert Boots [Comfortable and Stylish]

Here are the some of the best zero drop chukka and desert boots.

The best zero drop chukka boots is the vivobarefoot gobi ii. Besides having a zero drop from toe to heel, it is lightweight, comfortable and can keep your feet warm during the winter times. This zero drop desert boots is also easy to coordinate with everyday clothes with its minimalist and sleek design.

Vivobarefoot Gobi II zero drop chukka boots (for men)

Gobi II is a stylish and comfortable zero drop desert boots that can be worn to a relaxed workplace. The other zero drop brands like Xero or Altra either do not look as elegant or are too uncomfortable even though they look classy.

What I like

  • Comfort: Light weight with soft leather that makes wearing them a joy
  • Toe Box: Wider than normal boots so great for those looking for roomy toe box.
  • No break in: The shoe is comfortable enough to be worn out of the box, even for those who have never worn a zero drop pair of shoes before.
  • Easy to coordinate: You can match these boots with jeans, slacks or casual pants. They do not work too well with suits though. One reason for these boots to be easily coordinated is their minimalist design which I absolutely love. No excess lines, eyelets, colors etc.

What can be improved

  • Quality control: Has seen some inconsistent quality in terms of the stitching work being done between the sole and the outer wall. A good pair will leave you no complaints but a bad pair will leave your shoe looking like a clown boot.

For sizing, Vivobarefoot’s Gobi II is probably true sizing so just order for the sizes you normally wear.

In terms of materials, the Gobi II is made of soft leather so it can be consider to be a desert boot.

Naturalizer Women’s Cassandra Chukka Boot (For Women)

Naturalizer’s chukka boots is a brand that is beloved by many zero drop shoes fans. They can be worn with jeans and dress pants, making them suitable for both casual and slightly formal occasions.

This particular pair of Naturalizer boots is 100% zero drop and also comes with arch support. Hence for ladies with bunions, Morten’s neuroma and/or flat feet, these boots might give you some relief.

What I like

  • Comfort: Extremely comfortable to wear and can be an 8 hour shoe easily with no pain caused to your feet
  • Easy color matching: There are not many navy color zero drop chukka boots and this is one of them. The color makes it easy to coordinate with jeans. The brown strips add some favor to the boots
  • Toe Box: Roomy toe box for those with slightly wider feet. If your feet is narrow, you might need an insole or thicker socks.

What can be improved

  • Sizing: The sizing seems to caused problems for some. Mostly complaint that they cannot find the right size even though they have tried on consecutive sizing.

Xero Vienna Chukka Boots (for women)

The Xero chuuka boots for women is a pair for canvas (not leather) chukka boots. This is regular width boots so it is not suitable for wide feet or for those needing some wriggle room for your toes.

What i like

  • Comfort: The material is canvas so it is naturally not as hard as leather
  • No break in: You can wear these straight out of the box
  • Easy to coordinate: The color makes it easy to go with almost everything except formal wear. There are some nice details on the shoes, which increases its attractiveness.

What can be improved

  • Sizing: The sizing issue rears its head with Xero. In particular, when the width tend to be just right, the length will be slightly tight. So most will have to order 1/2 or 1 size bigger.
  • Put a zipper: These boots have a stretchable opening but tends to be small. This means getting your feet in will press some problems. A zipper will solve this problem. Having said that, it is not a deal breaker.

UGG Women’s Reid Winter Boot

The Ugg reid winter boot is zero drop and is made of suede. So they are really zero drop chukka boots, rather than desert boots.

Similar to the Xero, the Ugg boot has not cater to wide foot folks. In fact, the toe box is a bit pointy. This is boots only for regular or narrow feet!

What I like

  • Comfort: It is light weight and has comfortable linings for wearing for long hours
  • Warm: This winter boot can keep your feet from mildly cold days. Do not expect this to replace a real winter boots that is waterproof and can withstand very cold temperature.
  • Easy to put: The zipper system makes it a breeze to put these boots on

What can be improved

  • Nothing

Overall there is no major complaint as long as you know this is a regular design boot. A lot of negative reviews I read is about this boots being too narrow and not fitting their wide feet lol

Difference between chukka and desert boots

Chukka boot refers to all boots that have ankle length and a number of eyelets. It can include all sorts of materials. Desert boots are a subset of chukka boots since they only use soft leather and rubber soles. Hence, all desert boots are chukka boots by definition but not the other way around.

Most of the boots featured here are desert boots except those made of canvas or suede, which then must be classified as chukka boots.

Conclusion

Finding comfortable chukka or desert boots that are zero drop are not easy as most brands have some height difference between toe and heel. These 4 models highlighed here are not only zero drop but are comfortable to wear. Some also have wide toe box to fit those who need wider shoes for their feet.
